Term of Protection and Renewal
An EU trademark is valid for 10 years. It can be renewed for subsequent 10-year periods by the trademark owner or an authorized party upon request and payment of the official fee, starting from the 9th year after the filing date and up to the 10th year.
If not renewed on time, a grace period of 6 months is granted after expiration. Renewal can still be filed during this grace period by paying an additional late renewal fee.
