Indonesia Trademark Registration
Application Routes
- Direct National Application: Submit a trademark registration application to the Indonesian Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP). Applicants must ensure that all materials provided are complete, accurate, and compliant with the relevant requirements of Indonesian trademark law.
- Madrid International Registration: Since January 2, 2018, the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks has been effective in Indonesia. Foreign applicants can file trademark applications in Indonesia through the Madrid system. This route allows applicants to apply for trademark registration in one or more member states by submitting a single international registration application to the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), thereby obtaining trademark protection in multiple countries or regions.

- Trademark Specimen (not required for word mark applications)

- Registration Approval: If no opposition is filed during the publication period or if the opposition is unsuccessful, the Indonesian DGIP will approve the trademark registration and issue a trademark registration certificate.
Validity Period and Renewal
An Indonesian trademark is valid for 10 years from the filing date.
Renewal can be filed within 6 months before expiration, with a 6-month grace period. Each renewal extends the validity for another 10 years, calculated from the day after the previous validity period expires.
