The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) announced on October 21, 2026 that it has joined WIPO GREEN, the World Intellectual Property Organization's platform for sustainable technology, in a move aimed at bridging Filipino green innovations to global opportunities. As a WIPO GREEN partner, IPOPHL will provide expertise in IP protection and management and promote the database throughout its networks.
WIPO GREEN, launched in 2013, is an online marketplace that connects seekers of environmentally sustainable solutions with technology and service providers. Its freely accessible database lists green technologies, services and needs, while its network of partners - national IP offices, industry associations and other institutions - supports matchmaking, acceleration projects and joint publications. Joining as a partner involves a letter of proposed contribution and acceptance of the WIPO GREEN Charter.
For the Philippines, the partnership gives local green technology developers a channel to showcase solutions to a global audience of potential licensees, investors and collaborators, and gives Filipino companies seeking climate-friendly technologies a structured route to find them. IPOPHL's role as a network promoter also positions the office to identify local innovations suitable for listing and to advise their owners on the IP strategies needed to enter technology transfer deals.
The announcement is IPOPHL's second WIPO collaboration this month, following the Manila launch of the Growth Connect: International Brand Readiness Program - the first global pilot of that WIPO initiative, which prepares export-ready Philippine enterprises for international trademark registration under the Madrid Protocol. Together, the two programs show the office pairing brand internationalization support with green technology commercialization as it works to raise the competitiveness of Philippine products and innovations in overseas markets.
