On September 17, 2026, IPspeedy's offline peer exchange salon, themed 'Insight into FTO · Safeguarding Innovation Going Global,' was held as scheduled. Numerous intellectual property professionals gathered to discuss risks, business practices, and breakthrough strategies — and the insights kept flowing throughout the event.
At the start of the salon, Mr. Wang, President of IPspeedy, delivered a pre-event sharing session titled 'Breakthrough · Growth.' Facing the operational challenges currently confronting industry peers, he offered three practical responses:
'When you only think, everything looks like a problem. When you act, answers emerge.'
This sentence set the tone for the entire salon.
Zhou Shuanglong · Senior Patent Attorney, Specially-appointed Off-campus Mentor at Shenzhen Technology University
Mr. Zhou began with the real-world risks that overseas-facing companies actually encounter:
Real Risks Faced by Companies Going Global
Fighting fires after the fact comes at a heavy cost. The real way out lies in proactive risk avoidance and defusing potential threats in advance — and FTO is the key tool for doing exactly that.
What is FTO (Freedom to Operate)?
For a target market, FTO examines whether a product or technical solution falls within the valid patent protection scope of others.
Core Process
Technology Breakdown → Comprehensive Search → Analysis & Comparison → Risk Assessment
Mr. Zhou went on to explain how FTO differs from conventional patentability searches, and the value it delivers to businesses — it is not about pursuing zero risk, but about dissecting risks that are otherwise invisible, thereby providing a basis for sound business decisions.
He also introduced the applicable client groups and scenarios, and presented real case studies and delivery standards on site, giving attendees a more intuitive understanding of how FTO services are delivered in practice.

Following the presentations, guests engaged in lively discussions based on their own experience and practical challenges, and many shared their own perspectives — sparking no shortage of new ideas.

Thank you to every friend who joined us on site. See you at the next salon!
