Tanzania: FCC Clarifies Foreign Trademark Registrations May Support Customs Recordation Applications

Tanzania's Fair Competition Commission (FCC) has clarified that foreign trademark registrations may be used to support applications for customs recordation in Mainland Tanzania, allowing brand owners to record marks with customs even without a local registration. The FCC stressed, however, that recordation is only an administrative monitoring measure: it confers no enforceable trademark rights and no entitlement to border seizures, so national registration remains necessary for enforcement.

On August 3, 2026, China published the revised Regulations on the Protection of Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits, signed by Premier Li Qiang as State Council Order No. 842 and effective October 15, 2026.
